Job Requirements

  • Prior experience using kitchen equipment and batch cooking or working on a grill/fry station preferred
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including carrying pans and trays
  • Must be able to work a full-time schedule Monday through Friday
  • Availability to work varying hours as required
  • Ability to comply with all food safety and sanitation regulations
  • Willingness to attend in-service and safety meetings
  • Must be able to work in an educational facility environment with potential temporary layoffs

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Prior experience in kitchen equipment use and batch cooking or grill/fry station preferred
  • Ability to follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Good communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Basic math skills for portion control and record keeping
  • Strong attention to detail and time management

Job Duties

  • Take orders from customers and prepare items requiring short preparation
  • Complete orders from steam tables and serve customers at multiple stations
  • Serve customers in an efficient, friendly manner following established steps of service
  • Ensure food is at the correct temperature and is attractive and tasty
  • Taste all prepared food items
  • Use established ticket-collection procedures during service
  • Maintain records from area worked during service periods
  • Use approved recipes and production standards to ensure quality, serving temperatures, and portion control
  • Carry pans, kettles, and trays of food safely
  • Store foods in designated areas following wrapping, dating, food safety, and rotation procedures
  • Clean, sanitize, and maintain all assigned work areas, equipment, and utensils
  • Resolve customer concerns and report relevant information to supervisor
  • Attend in-service and safety meetings
  • Maintain good working relationships with coworkers, customers, administrators, and managers
  • Perform job safely while maintaining a clean, safe work environment
  • Perform other duties as assigned
