Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field
  • Minimum 2 years experience in event planning
  • Experience supervising professionals or volunteers
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience training others including volunteers and staff
  • Understanding of The Salvation Army mission
  • Ability to exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgment
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Cultural sensitivity and familiarity with community resources
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other event-related software
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Must be able to multitask effectively
  • Availability to work weekends and evenings

  • Capable of multitasking while maintaining high-quality detailed work
  • Willingness to work weekends and evenings as needed

Job Duties

  • Manage The Salvation Army's Greater Boston event management, recruitment materials, newsletters, and ensuring communications are accurate and reflect the organization's voice
  • Coordinate the management of the Greater Boston Events database and volunteer database, maximizing efficiency
  • Develop and revise volunteer web pages and social media for special events
  • Lead event planning, production, meetings, and on-site event management
  • Communicate event calendars, vision, goals with key stakeholders including Corps Officers, Social Ministries, and Advancement
  • Prepare and submit budgets and funding proposals
  • Process volunteer background checks with Human Resources
  • Track and analyze event data to support client and business relationships
  • Manage clerical and operational tasks for distribution events in collaboration with Social Ministries
  • Coordinate drives and collections with Corps Officers and Service Extension Units
  • Provide event reports and summaries to management
  • Ensure compliance with KeepSAfe training for volunteers and staff
  • Perform additional duties as needed within the scope of the position
