Job Requirements

  • 18 plus years old
  • high school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • food handlers certificate (ServSafe or ANSI compliant organization)
  • beginner knowledge of cheeses including cutting production and taste description
  • ability to follow directions and established procedures with attention to detail
  • ability to effectively prioritize competing tasks in a fast paced evolving environment
  • ability to work a flexible schedule including nights weekends and holidays
  • clear and effective communication style both written and verbal
  • team-player who can also work independently with minimal supervision
  • basic math skills
  • conversational English skills required when working with customers

Job Duties

  • Provide excellent customer service
  • address the needs of customers
  • answer their questions in a timely and effective manner
  • acquire and maintain thorough knowledge of products and services offered
  • describe flavor profiles of cheeses to customers including food pairings
  • take orders with attention to detail
  • communicate and consult with Gourmet Cheese Manager and Assistant Manager on special order capabilities and production requirements
  • assist with packaging pricing and merchandising department products
  • maintain display cases ensuring cleanliness stock and accurate signage
  • maintain a safe and organized warehouse and back of house cooler
  • process deliveries as required
  • organize rotate and stock workstation and department supplies
  • clean and sanitize work areas utensils and equipment
  • operate equipment such as price scale and vacuum sealer
  • answer phones and pages promptly and courteously
  • follow and comply with established procedures including health and sanitation and safe work practices
  • immediately report safety hazards and violations to supervisors
  • perform opening mid and closing duties as assigned
  • work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings
  • perform other duties as assigned by supervisors
