Job Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years in customs compliance within a global chemical company
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management or business
  • Experience with SAP and APO is preferred
  • Familiarity with ethical supplier compliance and cross-functional collaboration
  • Licensed customs broker preferred

Job Duties

  • Develop global customs compliance procedures spanning all regions and business units
  • Standardize systems, processes, and data while leveraging regional best practices
  • Establish a global customs compliance organization once foundational processes are in place
  • Oversee harmonized tariff classification, origin and preference determination, country of origin documentation, fair trade agreement eligibility, denied party screening, and manufacturing affidavits, including training employees and identifying areas of improvement
  • Maintain accurate classification records using technical data and drawings
  • Conduct annual reviews of HTS codes and compliance manuals
  • Create and deliver formal training programs across key geographies
  • Document and publish internal customs compliance practices for stakeholder awareness
  • Liaise with warehousing, manufacturing, IT, and business teams to ensure compliance and objectives are met
  • Coordinate with external customs providers and third-party logistics providers to meet service level agreements and escalate if necessary
  • Support internal departments with FTA documentation and COO determination
  • Track transactional activity to identify trends and cost-saving opportunities
  • Use scorecards and RACI diagrams to monitor performance and clarify stakeholder roles
  • Provide accurate and timely reports on compliance metrics and improvement areas
