Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-2 years of experience in surgical technology or GI assistant role preferred
- Valid AHA BLS Healthcare Provider Completion Card prior to employment and must maintain
- Proficiency in English language (speaking, reading, writing)
- Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination for assisting procedures
- Corrected vision and hearing to normal range
- Physical ability to lift, turn, pull, and push equipment for up to 90% of shift
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds unassisted for up to 33% of shift
- Endurance for standing, walking, bending, and stooping up to 90% of shift
- Capacity to work under stressful conditions with sustained concentration
- Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
Job Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalent
- 1-2 years' experience as surgical technologist or GI assistant preferred
- Must hold current AHA BLS Healthcare Provider card prior to start date
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English
Job Duties
- Follow infection control policies and utilize personal protective equipment as per universal precautions
- Clean scopes and equipment according to proper infection control procedures
- Demonstrate knowledge of current policies, procedures, and SGNA standards
- Accurately handle and identify specimens with care
- Properly handle, care for, and inspect instruments and equipment, reporting faulty items
- Anticipate physician needs during procedures by passing instruments, scopes, and supplies
- Maintain clean GI suite environment including cleaning, restocking, and assisting with room turnover
- Participate in performance improvement activities
- Use computer systems for daily tasks such as printing schedules
- Attend in-services, inventory, and mandatory meetings
- Support People Centered Caring philosophy and display positive image
- Assist with precepting new technical staff
- Communicate effectively with physicians, staff, and vendors
- Contribute to positive patient experience and satisfaction
- Demonstrate competency in cost-effective procedure setup
- Exhibit flexibility and adaptability
- Share responsibility for call coverage
