Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of company orientation
- Completion of food safety and sanitation training upon hire
- Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks
- Ability to work with customers while staying attentive to their needs
- Knowledge of basic computer systems and equipment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Reading and writing skills
- Physical ability to lift and manage weight according to department standards
- Willingness to follow food safety and department procedures

Job Duties
- Provide superior customer service
- Take orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answer customer questions regarding products and assist with selections
- Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product effectively
- Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for poor quality
- Assist in technical areas such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Clean and sanitize display cases
- Operate and maintain equipment properly
- Comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- Comply with department and store operating procedures
- Perform department-specific responsibilities such as recording production and shrink in bakery, managing service counter and inventory in deli, and packaging and educating customers in prepared foods
- Ensure catering orders are prepared and ready for Customer pickup when applicable
- Perform all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers
