Job Requirements
- Minimum age 18
- high school diploma or equivalent
- completion of company orientation
- food safety and sanitation training
- ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment with detailed and precise tasks
- ability to work with customers and stay attentive to their needs
- physical ability to perform department-specific tasks including lifting up to 55 lbs
- willingness to comply with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- strong communication and interpersonal skills
- knowledge of computer systems and equipment

Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- answers customer questions regarding products
- assists them with selections
- prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- assists in technical areas as needed such as basic set-up and clean-up processes
- uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- cleans and sanitizes display cases
- operates and maintains equipment properly
- complies with H-E-B food safety and sanitation standards
- complies with department and store operating procedures
- performs department-specific responsibilities in bakery, deli, or prepared foods as assigned
- records production and shrink to aid in bakery production planning
- takes care of service counter customers in deli
- serves and packages prepared food products
- educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- uses ordering system applications and inventory management processes
