Job Duties
- Provides superior customer service
- Takes orders from customers by telephone or in person
- Answers customer questions regarding products
- Assists them with selections
- Prepares, packages, and merchandises fresh product effectively
- Slices, packages, labels, rotates, and culls products for poor quality
- Assists in technical areas as needed
- Uses suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales
- Cleans and sanitizes display cases
- Operates and maintains equipment properly
- Complies with food safety and sanitation standards
- Complies with department and store operating procedures
- Performs department-specific tasks such as bakery production and shrink recording, deli service counter assistance, prepared foods packaging, and inventory management
- Ensures catering orders are prepared and ready for pickup as applicable
- Educates customers on preparation and reheating instructions of prepared foods
- Performs all sanitation and maintenance tasks for Deli slicers
