Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of related retail experience
  • One year of management experience
  • Experience in rotational assignments such as meat, bakery, produce, deli, customer service, or product flow
  • Ability to communicate clearly and precisely to team members
  • Ability to resolve conflict by addressing root causes
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to analyze financial and statistical information to make informed decisions
  • Ability to teach suggestive selling
  • Ability to lead an organization that practices safety at all times
  • Ability to mentor team members including SDITs, hourly workers, and team leaders
  • Successful completion of all required certifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members
  • Responsible for staffing, selection and hiring to achieve staffing needs
  • Promote succession planning by providing career paths, identifying development needs for team members, and being involved with promotion decisions
  • Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations concerning discharge
  • Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department
  • Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service
  • Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in all team meetings and conversations
  • Mentor and coach team members to ensure customer service and sales goals are exceeded and the area is maintained to Meijer standards
  • Ensure the team is thoroughly trained in all aspects of their jobs and have completed all required training
  • Spend majority of time within the store communicating with customers and team members to ensure exceptional service is delivered
  • Promote a safe work environment
  • Reliable and consistent attendance required
  • Perform other duties as assigned
