Job Requirements

  • Degree in management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management, or related field
  • Minimum three to five years management experience at a private club
  • Significant hospitality industry experience such as golf course management, hotel, resort, restaurant, retail, or sports management
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles
  • Prior success in membership growth and retention
  • Human resource management skills
  • Knowledge of building and facilities management
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

Job Qualifications

  • Degree in management, business administration, hotel and restaurant management, or related field

  • Significant hospitality industry experience in golf course management, hotel, resort, restaurant, retail, or sports management
  • Knowledge of accounting and financial management principles including uniform system of accounts, financial analysis, budgeting, cash flow forecasting, compensation and benefit administration, financing capital projects, audits, internal revenue service compliance, computer proficiency, business office organization, and long-range financial planning
  • Prior success in membership growth and retention
  • Human resource management skills in employee relations, management styles, organizational development, work/family balance, time management, stress management, labor issues, and leadership versus management
  • Knowledge of building and facilities management including preventive maintenance, insurance and risk management, clubhouse/building remodeling and renovation, contractors, energy and water resource management, housekeeping, security, and laundry operations
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Effective negotiation skills
  • Excellent presentation skills

Job Duties

  • Serve as the Club’s primary ambassador, maintaining a highly visible presence across the golf course, clubhouse, practice facilities, and events
  • Build strong, authentic relationships with members, guests, and community partners
  • Foster a culture of hospitality, inclusion, and belonging that reflects the Club’s values
  • Lead member communication with clarity, transparency, and warmth
  • Represent the Club at community events, golf associations, and industry gatherings
  • Oversees all Club operations including golf, food and beverage, agronomy, facilities, events, and member services
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, financial forecasts, and capital plans
  • Ensure operational efficiency, cost control, and long-term financial sustainability
  • Maintain compliance with all regulatory, safety, and industry standards
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to elevate service, quality, and member satisfaction
  • Implement and monitor the budget, ensuring maximum value of services to customers and members
  • Secure and protect the Club’s assets including facilities and equipment
  • Monitor operation of golf program including teaching, scheduling, tournaments, locker rooms, driving range, cart rentals, and pro shop facility
  • Collaborate with department managers to develop short- and long-term plans and programs with supporting budget requests and financial estimates for each department
  • Recruit, train, and mentor a high-performing team across all departments
  • Cultivate a positive, collaborative workplace culture built on respect, accountability, and professional growth
  • Provide coaching and development opportunities for emerging leaders
  • Set clear performance expectations and conduct regular evaluations
  • Maintain sound relationships between team members and customers/members and address complaints and suggestions
  • Partner with the Board of Directors/Ownership to develop and execute long-term strategic plans
  • Lead capital improvement projects and facility enhancements
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen the Club’s brand, reputation, and competitive position
  • Drive innovation in programming, member engagement, and operational practices
  • Maintain positive relationships with members, Board of Directors, guests, employees, community, government, and industry
  • Coordinate and administer the golf club’s policies as defined by the Board of Directors
  • Guide the Board of Directors in developing long- and short-term objectives, goals, policies, and programs
  • Develop operating policies and procedures and delegate goals to department managers
  • Direct upkeep and repair of all facility buildings and advise on long-range facility improvement plans
  • Define, recommend and control operating and financial objectives
  • Coordinate facility inter- and intra-committee activities
