Job Requirements
- Serve a 1-year trial period to evaluate fitness and effectiveness
- Performance and conduct will be assessed
- Meet needs and interests of the agency
- Support organizational goals and enhance Federal service efficiency
- Selective Service Registration required for males born after 12/31/1959
- Subject to background and security investigation
- U.S. Citizenship or allegiance
- Commitment to improving Federal government efficiency and upholding the U.S. Constitution
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 3-5 years direct food or retail management experience
- Prior experience with inventory management, supply cost and shrinkage controls, and profit and loss management
- Proven ability to build sales, increase profits, and develop staff
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to assess business needs
- Hands-on leadership focused on service and hospitality
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other applications
- Experience with point-of-sale systems
- ServSafe certification required or to be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Associate degree in Business, Hospitality or Management preferred but not required
Job Duties
- Develop and execute strategic plans that align with organizational goals and achieve financial targets including NOI and gross margin
- Manage inventory, ensure health and safety compliance, and oversee employee and labor relations
- Recruit, develop, and lead collaborative and successful teams
- Conduct performance management and hold teams accountable through evaluations
- Ensure compliant processes for all canteen functions including planograms, retail point-of-sale systems, inventory control, food safety, sanitation, and promotions
- Confirm the canteen operates to NSF standards and audit goals are met
- Oversee financial management including budgeting and cost control with a track record of improving financial margins
- Identify operational improvements, streamline processes, and implement best practices to enhance customer experience
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders like Medical Center leadership
- Utilize excellent verbal and written communication skills and proficiently use Microsoft Office and point-of-sale systems for effective technology utilization and communication
