Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management, marketing, hospitality or related field or equivalent experience
- minimum 7 years of management experience
- prior responsibility for daily P&L management and budget oversight of $1M or greater
- proven experience organizing and operating sports tournaments and events
- operational knowledge of food and beverage, family entertainment, fitness clubs
- experience working with convention and visitor bureaus or regional sports commissions
- senior level experience in multi-purpose arenas or stadiums
- operational knowledge of risk management, leadership, and sports programming
- ability to lift 50 pounds
- willing to travel 2-3 weeks annually
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, sports management, marketing, hospitality, food and beverage, or related field, or equivalent experience
- proven experience in organizing and operating sports tournaments and events including basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, wrestling, trade shows
- operational knowledge of food and beverage, family entertainment centers, and fitness clubs
- experience with convention and visitor bureaus or regional sports commissions
- minimum of 7 years of management experience in sports, recreation, facilities, hotel, convention center or entertainment industry
- senior level experience in multi-purpose arenas or stadiums
- operational knowledge of risk management and leadership development
- expertise in sports programming and event operations required
Job Duties
- Analyze operations to evaluate the performance of the company and its staff
- appoint department heads or managers and assign or delegate responsibilities
- confer with ownership, advisors and staff to coordinate activities and resolve problems
- coordinate development and implementation of budgetary and administrative control systems
- direct and coordinate financial and budget activities
- direct human resources activities including selection of directors and key staff
- plan and implement policies and objectives to ensure continuing operations
- implement corrective action plans
- prepare and present reports to supervisors and City Council
- represent the organization and promote objectives at official functions
- serve as liaison between organizations and shareholders
- direct activities related to production, pricing, sales, and distribution
- negotiate and approve contracts and agreements
- prepare budgets for approval
- review staff reports to recommend changes
- serve as liaison between the facility and Parks and Recreation Department
- schedule and monitor staff training seminars
- perform additional duties assigned by VP of Venue Management
