Job Requirements
- Documented and demonstrated skills managing QSR or casual dining restaurants
- Experience with restaurant P&L responsibility for multiple annual cycles
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
- Graduation from food service management or culinary program may substitute for experience
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to comprehend menus and company standards
- Willingness to work varied and rotating schedules including opening, peak, and closing shifts
- Compliance with health and safety protocols
- Commitment to team engagement and employee development
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of three years of restaurant P&L management experience
- Overall 5-7 years of relevant restaurant operational experience
- Graduation from a food service management or culinary program preferred
- Strong team management and delegation skills
- Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards or ability to learn quickly
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions, policy documents, and menus
- Effective communication skills with staff and customers
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
- Commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Proficiency with management information systems and tools
Job Duties
- Ensure all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing the restaurant to prepare for opening
- Hold shift managers accountable for executing all closing and opening checklist requirements
- Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility
- Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure coverage for all shifts
- Provide staff with consistent support, coaching, and encouragement to achieve business goals
- Interview job candidates and make hiring, termination, promotion, or status change decisions
- Promote diversity and inclusion philosophy and ensure compliance with onboarding and offboarding processes
- Monitor financial and operational reports to track progress towards goals
- Recognize staff contributions using company tools
- Maintain product availability and oversee inventory ordering
- Manage receiving goods, processing invoices, and vendor relations
- Maintain proficiency in management information systems
- Oversee restaurant equipment maintenance and service scheduling
- Participate in responding to audits
- Minimize waste and participate in food donation programs
- Conduct and coordinate employee training and development
- Implement marketing programs as directed
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and train staff in health protocols
- Resolve customer and employee issues, escalating as necessary
- Manage day-to-day activities across assigned restaurants or points-of-sale
