Job Requirements

  • Must have documented and demonstrated skills managing QSR or similar restaurant types with full responsibility for success
  • Experience with P&L management for multiple annual cycles
  • Ability to communicate effectively and comprehend policy and menu documents
  • Knowledge of and commitment to company diversity and inclusion policies
  • Ability to work varied, rotating schedules including opening, busy, and closing shifts
  • Ability to perform health and safety activities
  • Capable of handling hiring, termination, and associate status decisions
  • Ability to deploy and schedule staff effectively
  • Proficiency with management information systems
  • Understanding of federal, state, and local health and safety standards

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of P&L restaurant management experience
  • 5 to 7 years of overall working restaurant experience
  • Graduation from a Food Service Management or Culinary program may substitute for part of experience
  • Demonstrated team management and delegation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple concurrent priorities
  • Knowledge of HMSHost policies, products, and operational standards or ability to learn quickly
  • Strong communication skills, including reading, writing, and verbal abilities
  • Ability to analyze financial and operational data

Job Duties

  • Ensure all assistant managers and staff recognize the importance of closing the restaurant to prepare for opening, hold shift managers accountable for executing all closing and opening checklist requirements
  • Understand, adopt, and demonstrate defined manager behaviors to foster employee engagement
  • Deploy staff and resources to maximize profitability and accept P&L responsibility
  • Assign work tasks, prepare schedules, and ensure all shifts are covered
  • Interview candidates, make hiring, termination, promotion, and status change decisions
  • Ensure onboarding and offboarding processes comply with company policies
  • Read and understand financial and operational reports to monitor progress towards unit goals
  • Recognize staff contributions and support company recognition initiatives
  • Ensure daily orders and unit stock levels are maintained and teach associates ordering procedures
  • Oversee receiving goods, processing invoices, and resolve supply chain issues
  • Maintain proficiency in management systems and tools like MIV, Crunch Time, and Kronos
  • Monitor and maintain restaurant equipment, schedule repairs as needed
  • Participate and manage responses to audits
  • Minimize waste and participate in food donation programs
  • Assess skill levels of associates and coordinate training
  • Maintain knowledge of brand standards, lease agreements, and protocols
  • Develop strategies to increase revenue
  • Manage day-to-day associate activities and resolve customer and employee issues
  • Provide feedback and use associate strengths for development
  • Implement marketing programs and promotions
  • Maintain up-to-date understanding of all safety, sanitary, and health standards
  • Hold managers accountable for safety compliance
  • Perform health and safety activities as specified in the Manager's Guide
