The Navy Exchange Service Command (NEXCOM) operates a network of retail and service facilities to provide goods and services to United States Navy personnel and their families, enhancing their quality of life and supporting operational readiness. Job Requirements

  • Secret (S) security clearance
  • Five years of total relevant experience
  • Three years of general administrative, operational, and management experience
  • Two years of specialized store operational management experience
  • Completion of hazardous material (HazMat) training within 90 days of hire
  • Filing of Financial Disclosure Report (OGE Form 450)
  • Full-time availability (35+ hours per week)
  • Ability to lead and coordinate multiple retail and service locations effectively

Job Qualifications

  • Three years of administrative, operational, merchandising and management experience
  • Two years of progressively responsible store operational management experience
  • Experience in merchandising, accounting, personnel, facility maintenance, distribution and administration
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience in human resources
  • Strong understanding of management practices and administrative processes
  • Skill in managing retail operations and directing merchandising activities
  • Ability to exercise mature judgment and deal effectively in person-to-person relationships

Job Duties

  • Directs and coordinates all phases of Exchange activities and associates' efforts toward mission requirements
  • Makes periodic and frequent inspections of all activities and outlets, identifying and correcting deficiencies
  • Ensures maximum utilization of facilities, equipment, cash, and associates
  • Assures compliance with departmental, Command and NEXCOM directives and operational instructions
  • Reviews and analyzes operational reports to achieve sales and profit objectives
  • Supervises subordinate staff including approving leave, enforcing rules, and conducting training
  • Ensures proper administration and documentation of merchandise receipt and storage
  • Oversees maintenance and repair program for facilities and equipment
  • Develops and executes Exchange Facility Master Plan and capital projects
  • Implements security, safety, and fire protection programs
  • Manages custody and accountability of property and funds
  • Promotes community activities and sales promotion programs
  • Reports to Commanding Officer and ensures adherence to policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
