Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in relevant field
  • minimum five years managerial experience in public transit or related field
  • drug test and pre-employment physical required
  • subject to random alcohol and drug testing
  • knowledge of safety and compliance regulations EPA, OSHA, DOT, ADA, EEOC
  • demonstrated ability to work with unions and labor contracts
  • strong verbal and written communication skills
  • ability to develop and execute strategic plans
  • proficient in budgeting and financial monitoring
  • leadership experience in safety culture and employee engagement

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, transportation, public administration, or related field
  • five years of managerial or comparable administrative experience preferably in a public transit agency
  • advanced master's degree may substitute for one year of experience
  • clear understanding of Collective Bargaining Agreement, union contracts, labor negotiations, and grievance procedures
  • strong leadership skills including safety, building teams, performance management, and developing talent
  • strong business acumen and strategic visionary skills
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • ability to manage stress, maintain work-life harmony, and focus on professional and personal development

Job Duties

  • Promote a diverse and inclusive, positive, respectful, and healthy work environment
  • prioritize employee engagement and retention strategies
  • offer professional, personal and technical development including continuous learning and mentoring opportunities
  • partner with Safety, Risk and Continuous Improvement to implement process improvements ensuring compliance
  • execute client's service planning, improve scheduling and recommend real-time scheduling adjustments
  • develop and manage annual operating and capital budgets and monitor financial targets
  • develop and maintain effective working relationships with teams, union, public, agencies, officials, and board
  • oversee, direct, and coordinate staff in providing cost-effective, efficient, and reliable transit services
  • provide input and feedback to the board on policy development and external factors
