Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • three years as a General Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Director of Sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • professional verbal and written communication skills
  • mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss analysis
  • problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities
  • ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • ability to travel including some overnight travel
  • valid driver’s license
  • frequently standing up, bending, climbing, kneeling, and moving about the facility
  • exposed to commercial cleaning chemicals
  • carrying, lifting or pulling items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • frequently handling objects and equipment
  • required to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta Service in all interactions with guests and clients
  • Manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel
  • Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied with guest amenities, food and beverage outlets meet guest expectations, and the hotel is well-maintained and clean
  • Manage the direct sales activities of the hotel in partnership with the Regional Sales Director and Global Sales Office
  • Directly supervise the Director of Sales and create and execute the hotel’s sales and marketing plan
  • Manage seasonal demand strategy with the Regional Revenue Manager regarding room pricing and length of stay
  • Work with property management and reservation systems to maximize revenue
  • Regularly sell hotel rooms through direct client contact
  • Establish and implement service recovery guidelines to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Respond promptly and professionally to guest complaints
  • Manage the Sonesta ES Suites brand positioning and marketing programs
  • Supervise the operations manager overseeing front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage
  • Supervise the maintenance manager managing the physical plant’s condition and preventive maintenance
  • Attend social events to represent hotel management and prospect sales leads
  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of capital and operational budgets
  • Collaborate with finance to identify and communicate financial variances and conditions
  • Ensure proper financial processes with the General Ledger Accountant
  • Manage physical building and facility condition in partnership with the National Engineering and Facilities Operations Manager
  • Oversee human resources and benefits programs, including recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding
  • Manage IT hardware and software use and maintenance
  • Oversee procurement and purchasing processes to leverage spending efficiencies
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  • Act as manager on duty when required
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and alcohol regulations
  • Perform other duties as assigned
