Job Requirements

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • or a 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience
  • or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • Light work - exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters with a service-oriented attitude
  • Attend all required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with company standards and regulations to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Effective problem handling including anticipating and solving issues
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources
  • Maintain confidentiality of information
  • Perform other duties as requested by management

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions using Highgate Hotel standards
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers through competency and corporate training programs
  • Collaborate with the Director of Sales to conduct daily HHBR meetings focusing on prospecting and sales efforts
  • Engage in hotel sales activities including client calls, hosting events, and client meetings
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Monitor the development of management trainees
  • Adhere to Highgate Hotel policies and train new managers
  • Assist in the hotel budget process
  • Ensure training in service standards and compliance across departments
  • Foster a positive team-oriented environment focused on guests
  • Perform regular room inspections with housekeeping and engineering
  • Oversee daily processing of invoices
  • Ensure timely submission of financial documents to corporate
  • Maintain cleanliness and property maintenance through inspections
  • Ensure employees are attentive and courteous to guests and staff
  • Forecast the hotel’s monthly financial position and reforecast as necessary
  • Conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • Interview final candidates for management positions
  • Perform performance appraisals and ensure compliance among managers
  • Motivate and counsel management personnel
  • Perform other duties as requested by senior management
  • Ensure equitable treatment of all employees
  • Meet clients on-site to assist sales efforts
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests
  • Ensure safe handling and audits of the hotel safe
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and enforce credit policies
  • Complete required corporate training modules
  • Ensure scheduled meetings take place on property
