Job Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience
  • Management experience required
  • Minimum of five years of direct successful experience in a General Manager or Assistant General Manager capacity
  • At least three years at the General Manager level managing a transit property or operation of 50 fixed-route vehicles and 110 plus employees
  • Expertise in labor and union negotiations and expenses
  • Full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • High degree of multi-tasking skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee the employees of the contractor and manage and monitor operational activities associated with this scope of work
  • Supervise the daily work activities of all operators, supervisors, dispatchers, maintenance workers, and other personnel necessary to support system operations
  • Ensure all performance goals are met
  • Ensure effective operations design, scheduling, and management
  • Maintain an adequate and competently staffed organization
  • Ensure effective quality assurance for all divisions
  • Complete and accurate data collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting
  • Ensure compliance with FTA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • Ensure effective environmental compliance and sustainability management
  • Ensure professional response to comments from passengers and the general public
  • Expertise and technical proficiency to assist with route and schedule planning and optimization
  • Ensure effective response to specific requests for other assistance as the need arises
  • Attend local and regional meetings at the County's request
  • Effectively manage customer relations through both direct contact and outreach programs
  • Identify, select, train and mentor location staff
  • Effectively and frequently communicate with location staff and support team members
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance plan and ensures fleet availability to meet service requirements
  • Oversee safety and training programs, plans and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations
  • Conduct periodic departmental audits
  • Daily, weekly and monthly review of key operational metrics
  • Ensure that all location financial metrics are managed continuously, exceptions are reported and action plans are developed to ensure the location meets it financial, safety and operational expectations
  • Implement, promote and adhere to company policies and procedures
  • Effectuate positive changes to policies, procedures and programs
  • Participate in location(s) labor and employee relations activities
  • Provide insight and information to support location(s) contract renewals
  • Create and present location(s) annual budget
