Job Requirements

  • College degree or equivalent business management experience
  • management experience required
  • experience with public transit including fixed route and paratransit
  • minimum of five years of relevant supervisory and managerial experience in public transit transportation
  • experience with fleet management including fixed route and paratransit operations
  • labor and union negotiations and expenses expertise
  • full understanding of dispatch, scheduling, driver recruitment, and safety DOT and FTA compliance
  • proficiency in MS Office
  • strong analytical skills
  • strong written and verbal communication skills
  • high degree of multi-tasking skills
  • ability to perform additional duties and responsibilities based upon individual contract requirements

Job Duties

  • Ensuring all performance goals are met
  • effective operations design, scheduling, and management
  • maintaining an adequate and competently staffed organization
  • complete and accurate data collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting as required by law and the contract
  • compliance with FTA and other federal, state, and local regulatory requirements
  • professional response to comments and concerns of passengers and the general public
  • effective response to specific requests for assistance as the need arises
  • attending public meetings at the county's request
  • maintaining positive employee morale to ensure good working conditions
  • effectively managing customer relations through direct contact and outreach programs
  • identifying, selecting, training, and mentoring location staff
  • effectively and frequently communicating with location staff and support team members
  • overseeing vehicle maintenance plans and ensuring fleet availability to meet service requirements
  • overseeing safety and training programs, plans, and processes to ensure compliance with company, contract, and regulatory requirements
  • maintaining client contact routinely to meet or exceed expectations
  • conducting periodic departmental audits
  • daily, weekly, and monthly review of key operational metrics
  • ensuring all location financial metrics are managed continuously, exceptions are reported, and action plans are developed to meet financial, safety, and operational expectations
  • implementing, promoting, and adhering to company policies and procedures
  • participating in location labor and employee relations activities
  • providing insight and information to support location contract renewals
  • creating and presenting location annual budget
