Job Requirements
- Education equivalent to at least a 2-year college degree
- Minimum 6 years progressive hotel or related field experience or 4-year degree with 4 to 5 years experience
- Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to listen and clarify concerns
- Capable of multitasking and prioritizing
- Attend required meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
- Regular attendance and compliance with scheduling requirements
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Follow safety and operational regulations
- Effective problem handling capabilities
- Ability to understand complex information
- Maintain confidentiality of information
- Willingness to perform other duties as required by management
Job Qualifications
- At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years related experience or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years related experience
- Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
- Effective verbal and written communication with all employees and guests
- Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns
- Multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
- Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
- Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
- Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations
- Effective problem-solving skills including anticipating and preventing issues
- Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information
Job Duties
- Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions using Highgate Hotel standards
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
- Hold monthly financial review meetings with department managers and supervisors
- Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and follow accounting procedures
- Develop managers for future advancement using competency training and corporate training programs
- Conduct daily HHBR meetings in conjunction with the Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
- Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts by calling on top accounts, meeting clients, and hosting events
- Participate in required M.O.D. coverage
- Monitor and develop management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and train managers to ensure compliance
- Assist in budget processes as required
- Ensure training in service standards is conducted in each department
- Foster a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest satisfaction
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily
- Ensure timely submission of financial documents to Corporate Office
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs
- Ensure employees maintain attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient interactions
- Forecast monthly financial position by estimating revenues and expenses
- Conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures
- Interview final candidates for management positions
- Perform performance appraisals and manage personnel coaching and discipline
- Perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
- Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
- Meet clients on property to assist in sales efforts
- Greet guests in public areas during peak times
- Ensure adherence to hotel safe security procedures and audits
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and manage credit and collection policies
- Complete required corporate training and become certified trainer
- Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
