SSA Group at Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager to lead and oversee the daily operations of our partner locations within the cultural attraction industry.   • ability to work varied hours including nights, weekends and holidays
  • must be 18 years or older
  • previous operations management experience required, with two years in cultural or amusement attractions preferred

Job Duties

  • Coach, supervise, direct all department managers so operational needs are met on a daily basis
  • schedule management personnel as necessary
  • assist in developing training standards for alcohol service, customer service, safety, harassment, etc.
  • host all meetings for management team and conduct training sessions
  • work with Executive Chef, Retail Operations Manager and Buyer to track, maintain and budget inventory and Cost of Goods
  • act as main liaison between the Client and SSA
  • maintain a close relationship with client staff
  • coordinate marketing efforts to enhance guest experience and operational output
  • attend client meetings and report to Regional Manager
  • manage compliance with all applicable laws
  • maintain a clean, safe and organized work environment
  • uphold company policies and procedures
  • manage financial budgeting, forecasting, and sales/per cap and controllable expenses
  • meet fiscal deadlines and oversee invoice processing
  • provide detailed operational reports to Regional Manager
  • conduct business assessments to drive revenue
  • forecast weekly sales and manage payroll within budget
  • set sales and budgetary precedents
  • minimize controllable costs
  • ensure delivery of SSA EXTRA Guest Service
  • manage day-to-day functions of all applicable departments
  • maintain knowledge and implementation of client contract
  • support progressive discipline and documentation
  • keep operating manuals updated
  • review and approve special event plans
  • manage menu design and pricing
  • engage in long-range planning
  • oversee capital projects
  • manage legal business needs
  • ensure proper employee integration and exit
  • promote an inclusive approach
  • oversee unit publications
  • support sustainability and conservation efforts
  • drive community engagement
  • perform other necessary tasks as assigned
