Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • minimum of 3 years of management experience in a cafe or foodservice environment
  • ability to work approximately 45 hours per week including weekends
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • proficiency in managing budgets and financial reports
  • capacity to lead and mentor staff with empathy
  • physical ability to be present on the cafe floor regularly
  • familiarity with safety and sanitation standards
  • valid food handling certification

Job Qualifications

  • Proven experience in managing a cafe or similar hospitality environment
  • strong leadership and team management skills
  • excellent knowledge of P&L management and cost control
  • ability to recruit, motivate, and develop a high-performing team
  • experience with community outreach and event coordination
  • competency in scheduling and labor management
  • understanding of inventory management and ordering processes
  • ability to foster a safe and respectful workplace
  • strong communication and feedback skills
  • capability to perform front-of-house and back-of-house duties
  • problem-solving skills regarding facilities and maintenance issues

Job Duties

  • Recruit and motivate an excellent team
  • oversee recruiting and new hire onboarding
  • plan trainings and development for the team
  • implement regular employee check ins to provide and pull feedback
  • perform disciplinary actions when necessary
  • coach and guide the AGM
  • meet or exceed sales goals
  • engage in community outreach, events, and ambassadorship
  • review and action on the P&L
  • manage labor and COGS within budget
  • write effective schedules and approve timesheets
  • manage pars and end of period inventory
  • strategically cover call outs
  • coach and correct ordering
  • foster a safe and clean cafe environment for guests and employees
  • own preventative maintenance for the cafe
  • ensure a safe and respectful working environment for all employees and guests
  • attend weekly management meetings
  • give clear and direct feedback to staff
  • execute all duties of either FOH or BOH at the highest level
  • execute all duties of the other discipline at a baseline functionality level
  • address common facilities maintenance issues autonomously
  • organize shop-specific events and programming
  • work with team to maintain inventory
  • find inventive ways to increase revenue
