Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum 6 years progressive experience in hotel or related field or equivalent education and experience
  • ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field or a 4-year college degree with 4 to 5 years related experience or a 2-year college degree with 5 to 6 years related experience
  • ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
  • maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • effective verbal and written communication skills with all employees and guests
  • strong listening and problem-solving abilities
  • ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • conduct weekly staff meetings including training sessions and review of sales and operations efforts
  • meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • hold monthly financial review with department managers, M.I.D.s and supervisors
  • ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and standard accounting procedures
  • develop managers for future advancement through training programs
  • conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
  • play a pivotal role in hotel sales including client meetings and hosting events
  • participate in M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • maintain direct contact and monitor management trainees
  • adhere to all Highgate policies and train new managers for compliance
  • oversee and assist in budget process
  • ensure training in service standards is taking place and compliance to Garden Standard of the Week
  • create a positive team-oriented environment focusing on guest and employee motivation
  • inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
  • ensure financial document information is submitted monthly to Corporate Office
  • ensure cleanliness and maintenance through inspections and preventive maintenance programs
  • ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient in interactions
  • forecast monthly financial position by estimating revenues and expenses
  • prepare and conduct management interviews and ensure compliance with hiring procedures
  • interview final candidates for vacant management positions
  • perform performance appraisals and ensure managerial compliance
  • motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management staff as per standards
  • perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
  • ensure fair and equitable employee treatment
  • meet clients on property to assist sales effort
  • be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests
  • ensure hotel safe handling and audits are followed
  • conduct monthly credit meetings and participate in credit and collection policies
  • complete corporate training modules and become certified to train others
  • ensure scheduled meetings take place on property
