Job Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum six months management experience in a related field
  • CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain within first 30 days
  • Ability to lead, inspire, and develop a team
  • Familiarity with company mission and operational requirements
  • Strong communication skills

  • Ability to manage sensitive and confidential situations
  • Proficiency in relevant software applications

Job Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Minimum six months of equivalent management experience required
  • Prior experience as Assistant Manager with Excel Fitness preferred
  • CPR/AED certification required or must complete within first 30 days
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills
  • Familiarity with Excel Fitness mission, values, vision, culture, and Planet Fitness brand
  • Demonstrated confidence and leadership to manage a team
  • Effective communication skills with internal and external customers
  • Team-oriented, motivated, and well-organized
  • Ability to think critically and proactively solve problems
  • Capable of handling difficult situations and confidential information
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, DataTrak, Workday, Service Channel, and related applications

Job Duties

  • Cultivate the next generation of leaders by identifying strengths and training opportunities for team members
  • Lead the Assistant Manager in strategizing member attraction and retention based on Excel Core Values
  • Ensure team proficiency in Planet Fitness mobile app, tablet, and POS operations
  • Maintain up-to-date certifications, trainings, marketing plans, and operational updates
  • Utilize club reporting platforms to align with company metrics and KPIs
  • Manage club budget ensuring expenses are within budget and club profitability
  • Oversee, supervise, and inspire Team Players to perform at their best
  • Identify training needs and ensure staff meet Excel standards
  • Conduct regular audits for club presentation and adherence to standards
  • Enforce company policies and promptly address non-compliance
  • Conduct Team Player Assessments and competency evaluations
  • Communicate with members to provide high-level member service
  • Create job postings, interview, hire, and train new Team Players
  • Actively coach and document performance management
  • Collaborate with RM, Sr. GM, AM, and HR on counseling and terminations
  • Perform daily club walkthroughs and delegate to uphold cleanliness and service standards
  • Lead club meetings to reinforce policies and culture
  • Manage work orders with Facilities, regional management, and vendors
  • Collaborate on maintenance and club construction projects
  • Oversee fitness equipment extractions and installations
  • Initiate community events and outreach activities
  • Manage club inventory and place necessary orders
  • Mentor Assistant Manager for potential GM roles
  • Authorize expenditures and refunds within approved limits
  • Maintain availability off-shift for operational support
  • Ensure club operations run smoothly with full shift coverage
  • Fill in or ensure coverage for Assistant Manager as needed
