Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree is a plus
  • Passionate team player and strong motivator
  • Five plus years in full P&L management preferably in hospitality, service, or retail environments
  • Experience in problem-solving, exercising sound judgment, maintaining confidentiality, and professional interaction with co-workers, clients, and public
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications
  • Ability to multi-task with strong time management
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and timely with strict/conflicting deadlines
  • Excellent oral, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills
  • Exceptional customer service experience
  • Veterinary, boarding, and/or grooming experience required
  • Experience managing inventory and accounts payable
  • Able to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Frequently lift up to 40 pounds
  • Able to stand, walk, climb stairs frequently
  • Able to be on feet for the duration of the shift
  • Able to work on computer and multi-line telephone
  • Able to handle dogs on leashes
  • Able to work in an environment with exposure to disinfectant/sanitation chemicals, animal dander, and excretions

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Minimum five years of full P&L management experience preferably in hospitality, service, or retail
  • Strong background in driving performance excellence through people management
  • Experience with veterinary, boarding, or grooming services
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and database applications
  • Excellent oral presentation, writing, and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and motivational skills
  • Exceptional customer service experience and skills
  • Ability to multi-task with strong time management capabilities
  • Experience managing inventory and accounts payable
  • Skill in problem-solving, exercising sound judgment, and maintaining confidentiality

Job Duties

  • Supports the mission, vision, culture and policies of Destination Pet
  • Ensures exceptional customer service through personal contact with customers, associate training, resolution of customer complaints, and delivery of services
  • Collaborates with Destination Pet support staff including operations, human resources, marketing, facilities, and legal
  • Ensures cohesiveness of all aspects of pet care services and cross training where necessary
  • Manages all staff at center including recruiting, hiring, motivating, training, promoting, counseling, and terminating
  • Oversees staff scheduling to provide outstanding service while managing budget
  • Manages center payroll and ensures payroll approval in a timely manner
  • Ensures center compliance with federal and local labor laws such as OSHA, EEOC, ADA, and Fair Labor Practices
  • Conducts safety training and enforces safe-handling policies
  • Prepares and delivers annual performance reviews timely
  • Monitors and responds to pet guest needs ensuring their safety, security, and comfort
  • Resolves customer and staff complaints
  • Manages center’s social media accounts and engages customers online
  • Creates and executes local marketing programs to grow sales
  • Attends community events and partners with local businesses
  • Maintains inventory and manages reordering and restocking
  • Oversees all center computer systems
  • Addresses maintenance needs for a safe environment
  • Utilizes financial reports and statistics for informed decision making
  • Manages cash handling, end-of-day cash drawer balance, and bank deposits
  • Promotes Destination Pet programs and services in the community
  • Assists team members as needed and performs other duties as assigned
