Job Requirements

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or a related field
  • Or a 4-year college degree and at least 4 to 5 years of related experience
  • Or a 2-year college degree and at least 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • Ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently or constantly
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand and clarify concerns of employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance per scheduling requirements
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Effective problem-solving skills including anticipation, prevention, identification and resolution
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data from multiple sources
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
  • Perform additional duties as requested by management

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions using Highgate Hotel standards
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs on time
  • Hold monthly financial review with department managers and supervisors
  • Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity and accounting procedures
  • Develop managers through competency and corporate sponsored training programs
  • Conduct daily sales meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts including client meetings and hosting events
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Monitor and develop management trainees directly
  • Enforce all hotel policies and train new managers for compliance
  • Assist in the budget process as required
  • Oversee service standards training and maintain compliance with hotel training programs
  • Create a positive team environment focused on guest satisfaction and employee motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure timely invoice processing using A/P process
  • Submit financial documents to Corporate Office complying with accounting calendar
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections
  • Ensure all employees provide attentive and courteous service to guests and colleagues
  • Forecast hotel financial position monthly estimating revenues and expenses
  • Conduct management interviews and follow established hiring procedures
  • Interview all final candidates for management positions before offers
  • Perform performance appraisals for Executive Committee members
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management staff according to standards
  • Perform additional duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees
  • Engage with clients and potential clients touring the property to assist sales
  • Be present in public areas during peak times greeting guests and offering assistance
  • Ensure hotel safe security procedures and monthly audits are followed
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and participate in credit and collection policies
  • Complete required corporate training modules and certify others as required
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings occur on the property
