Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 6 years experience in hotel management or related field
  • Proven leadership and supervisory skills
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Proficiency in hotel management software and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Commitment to customer service excellence
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass background check

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or a 4-year college degree and 4 to 5 years related experience, or a 2-year college degree and 5 to 6 years related experience
  • Ability to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with employees and guests
  • Strong listening and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
  • Approach all encounters in a friendly, courteous, service-oriented manner
  • Attend all required hotel meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions presented by managers and self
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.'s and available supervisors
  • Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales, conduct a daily HHBR meeting focusing on sales and prospecting calls
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top accounts and hosting client events
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain direct contact with management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and train new managers to ensure compliance
  • Oversee and assist in the Highgate Hotel budget process
  • Ensure training in service standards using Highgate Hotel's steps to effective training
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms weekly with housekeeping and engineering managers
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily
  • Ensure all financial documents are submitted monthly to the Corporate Office
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient
  • Forecast monthly the hotel's financial position by estimating revenues and expenses
  • Prepare and conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • Interview all final candidates for management positions
  • Perform performance appraisals of Executive Committee members
  • Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel
  • Perform duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees
  • Meet clients and potential clients on property to assist sales
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests
  • Ensure hotel safe procedures and audits are conducted
  • Conduct monthly credit meetings and participate in credit policies
  • Complete required corporate training and become certified to train others
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
