Job Qualifications
- At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field
- or a 4-year college degree with 4 to 5 years of related experience
- or a 2-year college degree with 5 to 6 years of related experience
- effective communication skills verbally and in writing with employees and guests
- ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions
- maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming including wearing nametags
- ability to understand and evaluate complex information and data
- effective problem handling including anticipating, identifying, and solving issues
- maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
- attend all required meetings and trainings
- participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
- comply with standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
Job Duties
- Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
- Conduct weekly staff meetings, including training sessions presented by managers and self using effective training steps according to Highgate standards
- Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
- Hold monthly financial reviews with all department managers, M.I.D.s and supervisors
- Ensure department heads maintain budgeted productivity and Highgate checkbook accounting procedures
- Develop managers for advancement through competency and corporate sponsored training
- Conduct daily HHBR meetings with Director of Sales focusing on prospecting and account calls
- Engage in hotel sales efforts including client meetings, luncheons and receptions
- Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
- Maintain direct contact with and monitor management trainees
- Adhere to all Highgate policies and train new managers for compliance
- Assist in the Highgate Hotel budget process
- Ensure service standards training in each department and compliance with Garden Standard of the Week
- Create a positive team environment focusing on guest satisfaction through development and motivation
- Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
- Ensure complete processing of invoices daily
- Comply with monthly financial document submissions
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of property with department managers
- Ensure employees provide attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient guest interaction
- Forecast monthly financial position estimating revenues and expenses
- Conduct management interviews and ensure compliance with hiring procedures
- Interview all final candidates for management positions prior to offers
- Perform Executive Committee members performance appraisals and ensure compliance
- Motivate, coach, counsel, and discipline management personnel as per SOPs
- Perform other duties as requested by Vice President or Regional Director
- Ensure fair and equitable treatment of employees
- Meet clients and potential clients touring the property to support sales efforts
- Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests and offer assistance
- Ensure hotel safe procedures and audits are followed
- Conduct monthly credit meetings and actively manage credit and collection policies
- Complete required corporate training and become a certified trainer
- Ensure all scheduled meetings are conducted on property
