Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 6 years progressive experience in hotel or related hospitality management
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and multitask effectively
  • Knowledge of financial management and budgeting
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information
  • Availability to work flexible hours including weekends and holidays
  • Physical ability to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Commitment to maintaining professional appearance and demeanor
  • Compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Ability to motivate and develop a diverse team
  • Experience in luxury or lifestyle hotel operations preferred

Job Qualifications

  • At least 6 years progressive experience in a hotel or related field, or a 4-year college degree with 4 to 5 years of related experience, or a 2-year college degree with 5 to 6 years of related experience
  • Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with all levels of employees and guests
  • Ability to listen, understand, and clarify concerns raised by employees and guests
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines
  • Approach all encounters in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings
  • Participate in M.O.D. coverage as required
  • Maintain regular attendance complying with hotel standards
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including wearing nametag
  • Comply with hotel standards and regulations for safe and efficient operations
  • Effective problem handling including anticipating, preventing, and solving issues
  • Ability to understand and evaluate complex information from various sources

  • Perform other duties as requested by management

Job Duties

  • Tour the operating departments daily, making adjustments as needed via department heads
  • Conduct weekly staff meetings, including weekly training sessions presented by managers and self using the steps to effective training according to Highgate Hotel standards, and review previous and future sales and operations efforts
  • Meet all financial review dates and corporate directed programs in a timely fashion
  • Hold a monthly financial review with all department managers, M.I.D.'s and available supervisors
  • Ensure that all department heads maintain budgeted productivity levels and Highgate Hotel standard checkbook accounting procedures
  • Develop managers for future advancement through competency training and corporate sponsored training programs
  • In conjunction with the Director of Sales, conduct a daily HHBR meeting focusing on prospecting and account calls and potential business results
  • Play a pivotal role in hotel sales efforts, including calling on top accounts, meeting clients, hosting luncheons and receptions
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Maintain direct contact with and monitor development of management trainees
  • Adhere to all Highgate Hotel policies and procedures and train new managers for compliance
  • Oversee and assist in the Highgate Hotel budget process as required
  • Ensure training in service standards takes place using the steps to effective training per Highgate Hotel standards
  • Assist in creating a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest service through employee development and motivation
  • Inspect rooms regularly with Housekeeping Manager and Property Engineer
  • Ensure complete processing of invoices daily using A/P process
  • Ensure financial documents compliance monthly with Corporate Office
  • Maintain cleanliness and maintenance of property through inspections and preventive maintenance programs
  • Ensure employees are attentive, friendly, courteous and efficient in guest and coworker interactions
  • Forecast hotel financial position monthly by estimating revenues and expenses
  • Prepare and conduct management interviews and follow hiring procedures
  • Interview all prospective final candidates for management positions prior to offers
  • Perform Executive Committee performance appraisals per standards
  • Motivate, coach, counsel and discipline management personnel per standard operating procedures
  • Perform any other duties requested by Vice President or Regional Director of Operations
  • Ensure all employees receive fair and equitable treatment
  • Meet clients and potential clients touring the property to assist in sales effort
  • Be in public areas during peak times greeting guests
  • Ensure procedures for handling hotel safe and monthly audits are followed
  • Ensure monthly credit meetings and participate in credit and collection policies
  • Complete required corporate training modules and become certified to train others
  • Ensure all scheduled meetings take place on property
