Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in hotel administration, business administration or related field preferred
  • Minimum three years experience as a general manager, operations manager or director of sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficient mathematical skills including budgeting and analyzing profit/loss
  • Excellent problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational and training skills
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments effectively
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Willingness and ability to travel including some overnight stays
  • Valid driver's license
  • Physical capacity to stand, bend, climb, kneel and move about facility frequently
  • Exposure to commercial cleaning chemicals
  • Ability to carry, lift or pull items weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent handling of objects and equipment
  • Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Hotel Administration, Business Administration or related field preferred
  • Three years as a General Manager, Operations Manager, and/or Director of Sales in extended stay hotels preferred
  • Ability to speak, read, and write fluent English
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Mathematical skills including budgeting and profit/loss concepts
  • Problem solving, reasoning, motivating, organizational, and training abilities
  • Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and Opera systems preferred
  • Ability to travel including some overnight travel
  • Valid driver's license

Job Duties

  • Deliver on the promise of Sonesta service in all interactions with guests and clients
  • Manage according to the Sonesta G.U.E.S.T. standards and instill a passion for customer service in all associates of the hotel
  • Create processes and procedures to ensure the hotel is properly supplied with all guest amenities, food and beverage outlets meet guest expectations, and the hotel is properly maintained and clean
  • Manage direct sales activities in partnership with the Regional Sales Director and Global Sales Office to uncover appropriate demand
  • Supervise the Director of Sales and execute the hotel sales and marketing plan
  • Manage seasonal demand strategy with the Regional Revenue Manager, adjusting room pricing and occupancy
  • Sell hotel rooms through direct client contact
  • Establish and implement service recovery guidelines and respond to guest complaints professionally
  • Manage front office, housekeeping, and food and beverage operations through direct supervision of the Operations Manager
  • Oversee maintenance and physical plant condition via supervision of the Maintenance Manager
  • Attend evening social and breakfast events as hotel management representative
  • Lead development and monitoring of capital and operational budgets
  • Collaborate with finance on financial conditions and reporting
  • Ensure proper processes for managing hotel financial inflows and outflows
  • Partner with facilities management on building and grounds maintenance and budget
  • Manage human resources, recruiting, onboarding, training, performance management, and offboarding processes
  • Oversee information technology hardware and software use and maintenance
  • Manage purchasing procedures and analyze hotel spending for efficiencies
  • Enforce hotel standards, policies, and procedures
  • Act as manager on duty when required
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws regarding health, safety, and alcohol services
  • Perform other duties as assigned
