Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Preferred one year of experience in freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to manage time and prioritize tasks
  • Customer service orientation
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Basic mathematical skills for calculation
  • Ability to stand and walk frequently
  • Capability to sit for long periods
  • Use of hands and fingers for computer and phone
  • Clear speaking and listening abilities
  • Visual acuity for computer screen work

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED
  • One year of previous experience in freight forwarding, logistics or supply chain preferred
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset

  • Adaptable and flexible in high-pressure environments
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Email and Internet
  • Knowledge of world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to calculate figures such as freight rates, discounts and percentages

Job Duties

  • Handles all shipment-level communication between Hellmann and all customers, carriers and vendors
  • Escalates all recurring carrier/vendor service issues to the supervisor
  • Maintains service relations with customers, carriers, vendors, and other Hellmann offices
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable internal and external standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Consults with supervisor prior to agreeing to non-standard services and/or pricing
  • Ensures customers are properly set up and maintained in company systems
  • Processes shipments in compliance with company standard operating procedures
  • Performs credit checks prior to transportation arrangements
  • Submits insurance purchase requests upon request
  • Verifies and confirms additional charges incurred
  • Communicates additional charges to customers promptly
  • Obtains and retrieves Arrival Notices
  • Creates Broker Arrival Notices and coordinates with Trade Services or Outside Brokers
  • Dispatches Hellmann arranged deliveries or communicates with carriers/consignees for non-Hellmann arrangements
  • Sends Customer Arrival Notices
  • Collaborates with Trade Services for inspections as required
  • Ensures carriers and CFS are paid and possess required documentation
  • Updates milestone tracking events as required
  • Performs other duties as assigned
