Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Three to five years of related maintenance and repair experience
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • Immunization against blood borne pathogens
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Ability to perform physical labor including lifting up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to pass physical and safety standards for heavy work
  • Completion of NIMS coursework within one year

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency
  • Three to five years of related maintenance and repair experience
  • Valid North Carolina driver’s license
  • Proficient with hand and power tools
  • Basic knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and grounds maintenance
  • Ability to operate light equipment and vehicles safely
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Completion of NIMS coursework within one year
  • Immunization against blood borne pathogens

Job Duties

  • Perform skilled carpentry and plumbing repairs including installing and fixing fixtures
  • Clean and maintain public buildings, boardwalks, and marina facilities including restrooms and showers
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, and light equipment such as chain saws, power washers, and lawn equipment
  • Lead or assist maintenance crews in tasks such as street sign repair, fence installation, and storm preparation
  • Pick up and dispose of trash and debris along public areas to ensure cleanliness and safety
  • Prepare and set up areas for special events including tables, chairs, and decorations
  • Communicate effectively with public and business owners to resolve maintenance issues and provide quality customer service
