Job Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- six months of full-time, paid, custodial housekeeping experience in a large commercial or public building or group of smaller buildings
- ability to perform custodial tasks including cleaning and maintenance
- capability to operate cleaning equipment safely
- ability to lift loads up to 50 pounds
- ability to work Monday to Friday full-time
- pass open competitive written exam
- willingness to undergo three days of paid training
- ability to work varied shifts during school year and summer hours
Job Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- six months of full-time, paid, custodial housekeeping experience in a large commercial or public building or group of smaller buildings
- demonstrated knowledge of housekeeping methods, tools, materials and equipment
- demonstrated ability to perform preventive maintenance on cleaning equipment
- ability to apply proper cleaning techniques to keep facility clean
- ability to lift heavy loads up to 50 pounds
- ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates and school staff
- ability to paint over graffiti as instructed
- ability to utilize equipment for weed, snow and ice removal
- ability to carry ladders up to 8 feet in length and assist with longer ladders
Job Duties
- Perform general housekeeping tasks in offices, classrooms, cafeterias, auditoriums, shops, multipurpose rooms, lavatories, laboratories, schoolyard, and walkways
- sweep, scrub, mop, clean and wax floors, hallways, stairways, and fire escapes
- dust mops vertical and horizontal surfaces, strip, refinish, buff and polish floors, shampoo carpets
- empty wastebaskets and pencil sharpeners
- clean shower rooms, water fountains, disinfect floors, walls and toilet bowls, polish fixtures and mirrors, replenish lavatory supplies
- lock and unlock doors and fire towers, open and secure buildings as directed
- maintain janitorial service areas and cleaning equipment
- pick up broken glass, debris, and empty trash cans inside and outside buildings
- report health, life, and safety maintenance concerns to supervisors
- use equipment for weed, snow, and ice removal seasonally
- assist in cafeteria table set-up and breakdown
- paint over graffiti as instructed
- carry ladders up to 8 feet and assist with longer ladders
