Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, follow oral and written instructions in English at a level acquired through completion of elementary school
  • Ability to learn and perform basic housekeeping practices
  • Understands hospital policies and procedures
  • High school diploma or completion of GED preferred

Job Duties

  • Maintains daily cleaning of assigned areas by following approved hospital cleaning procedures
  • Operate vacuum cleaners, floor scrubbers, burnishers, buffers and wall washing equipment and other power machinery as instructed
  • Maintains stock of housekeeping supplies in assigned areas and housekeeping closets and equipment
  • Prepares patient rooms for occupancy upon discharge or transfer including sanitation of beds, furniture and equipment
  • Cleans and maintains refrigerators, stoves, ovens and other patient and non-patient care equipment
  • Sets up and cleans meeting rooms per departmental specifications
  • Collects and disposes of all trash and waste as needed
  • Cleans, disinfects and sanitizes bathroom sinks, floors, showers, and fills soap, paper towel and tissue dispensers
