Job Requirements

  • Six months of experience as a cook in a high-volume restaurant environment
  • ability to identify pan types and knife types
  • demonstrated proficiency in using kitchen equipment such as slicer, mixer and knives
  • ability to speak and understand English
  • ability to write routine reports
  • ability to read and interpret safety rules and policies
  • ability to carry out written, oral or diagram instructions
  • problem-solving skills involving concrete variables
  • understanding of mathematical concepts such as fractions and percentages
  • good judgment to maintain positive guest relations
  • maintain consistent attendance
  • professional ethical conduct
  • obtain and maintain Gaming License from Tribal Gaming Agency
  • pass skill testing and drug screening

Job Qualifications

  • Six months of experience as a cook in a high-volume restaurant environment
  • ability to identify pan types and knife types
  • demonstrated proficiency in using a slicer, mixer, robo coupe, tongs, chef's knife, bread knife, paring knife, steel, high heat spatula, turner and whisk
  • ability to speak and understand English
  • ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • ability to read, analyze and interpret documents written in English such as safety rules, instructions, and policies
  • ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions
  • ability to define problems involving several concrete variables, collect data and draw valid conclusions
  • ability to work with mathematical concepts including fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
  • good judgment in providing information to guests
  • responsible for maintaining consistent and regular attendance
  • professional and ethical conduct
  • must apply for, receive, and maintain a Gaming License from the Tribal Gaming Agency
  • must pass applicable skill testing and a drug screening test

Job Duties

  • Support and uphold Valley View Casino & Hotel's Standards of Excellence, maintain positive guest relations and ensure guest satisfaction, prepare vegetables for salads through chopping, slicing and assembling, peel and slice fruit for fruit trays and arrangements, arrange food attractively for various functions, maintain and rotate dated food stock, maintain a clean and sanitary work environment, perform other duties as assigned by management, conduct all responsibilities in a professional and ethical manner, maintain a consistent and regular attendance record, adhere to performance standards and company policies related to the department
