Job Requirements

  • High school education
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a receptionist or administrative assistant
  • Ability to communicate clearly and courteously
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Experience handling cash and sales transactions
  • Ability to provide assistance to visitors with special needs
  • Capability to manage visitor data and administrative tasks
  • Willingness to cover shifts for colleagues
  • Availability to work Thursday, Friday and every other Saturday, with occasional evenings
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and move about the museum

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Answers phone calls and emails, takes messages and distributes information in an accurate and timely manner
  • Welcomes visitors and guests in a helpful and courteous manner
  • Provides information to visitors about museum exhibitions and university, city, and regional points of interest
  • Handles admission and store sales including money collection, receipt preparation, and inventory monitoring
  • Fulfills online store orders and ensures store displays are well-maintained
  • Collects visitor data for reporting purposes
  • Maintains pamphlet and information files for guest distribution
  • Books school and group tours of exhibitions
  • Provides clerical support to staff for special projects
  • Covers absences for other receptionists
  • Supports occasional weekend and evening events
  • Safeguards confidential information related to staff, students, and museum operations
  • Attends staff meetings
  • Performs other essential duties as assigned
