Job Requirements
- Knowledge equivalent to a four-year college degree in Hotel Restaurant and Institutions Management, Business Administration, Dietetics, Food Systems and Economics Management or Nutrition
- One to three years of related and progressively responsible experience in customer relations, food service practices, sanitation and safety procedures
- Familiarity with food preparation equipment
- Accounting skills
- Supervisory and managerial experience
- Ability to make reasonable attempts to work during university closures or emergency conditions
- Available to work scheduled hours including evenings, weekends, and alternating weekends
- Clear and professional communication skills
- Experience with payroll functions and scheduling
- Commitment to workplace safety and food quality standards
Job Qualifications
- Four-year college degree in Hotel Restaurant and Institutions Management, Business Administration, Dietetics, Food Systems and Economics Management, Nutrition or related field
- One to three years of progressive experience in customer relations, food service practices, sanitation and safety procedures
- Familiarity with food preparation equipment
- Accounting skills
- Supervisory and managerial experience
- Experience in food handling, food service production, banquet coordination, event planning, recipe development
- Experience working with diverse racial, ethnic, socioeconomic, LGBTQIA+, and gender backgrounds
- Ability to adapt communication styles to multiple cultural environments
Job Duties
- Unlock/lock doors daily, turn on/off kitchen and venue equipment
- Walkthrough each shift to assess premises and equipment and place any service requests needed
- Ensure workplace safety, sanitation and food handling standards are met
- Monitor food quality (taste, appearance and aroma) and portion control
- Train and direct team to deliver outstanding Spartan experiences
- Conduct regular walkthroughs of dining hall, kitchen and Sparty’s
- Assess and adjust staff placements to provide best floor coverage
- Respond to cashier and guest requests/concerns to include guest access/ID problems
- Set up daily schedule shell, print and complete multiple time scan problem forms, confirm employee punches in Ultra Time, complete Supervisor Report to Payroll and Time Scan Problem forms
- Print and post menu signs with allergen tagging
- Count and verify change banks and cash boxes
- Collect temperature logs, venue checklists and menu actuals daily
- Check in food deliveries and complete add-on orders
- Complete and document bi-weekly one on one meetings and annual evaluations
- Provide staff development opportunities through cross training, class attendance and compliance completion
- Handle disciplinary action under guidance of Manager including coaching, documentation and issuance of attendance letters and discipline
