Job Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science
- current Funeral Director license within the practicing state
- valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- ability to work indoors and outdoors in all weather
- ability to sit or stand for up to 6 hours daily
- ability to climb stairs frequently
- physical ability to push and pull up to 150 pounds
- flexibility to work nights, weekends, and outside regular business hours
- professional business attire when in contact with families
Job Qualifications
- Graduated from an accredited school or college of mortuary science
- valid current Funeral Director license within the practicing state
- valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- industry experience preferred
- cognitive ability to reason, plan, identify problems, learn quickly, and apply learning
- process and results oriented
- positive attitude and self-motivated
- ability to build professional and trusting relationships
- professional written and verbal communication skills
- public speaking skills with the ability to influence and gain consensus
- proficient in using databases and MS Office
Job Duties
- Receive or initiate calls to deceased next of kin exhibiting concern and empathy
- obtain or confirm deceased and family contact information and schedule arrangement appointments
- perform removals or transfers adhering to company standards and processes
- care for deceased respectfully and update removal status in proprietary software
- greet next of kin and facilitate arrangements conference assessing needs and summarizing desired outcomes
- discuss available insurance and benefits such as veteran services
- promote funeral, cemetery, crematory services, and merchandise including catering, flowers, music, and memory products
- transition arrangement conference to Funeral Services Counselor or advisor for cemetery property presentation and contract completion
- review and authorize merchandise and service contract revisions
- confirm authorization to proceed with service arrangements
- preside as Master of Ceremonies for visitation, funeral, or graveside services maintaining professionalism and company standards
- be present during graveside services and casket placement verifying personal belongings removal
- inspect deceased and services arrangements and initiate corrective action as necessary
- interact with family to fulfill death care requests and obtain leads for pre-need services
- plan and coordinate event resources including music, flowers, catering, and memorial products
- prepare event rooms and conduct post-event cleanup and storage
- perform attendant duties such as parking attendant, driver, usher, pallbearer, or courier
- represent and promote the location at community or charity events
- work under general guidance complying with regulatory requirements
- take initiative to discuss assignments and seek manager guidance
- adjust to new work environments and cultures
- perform additional responsibilities as assigned
