Job Requirements

  • associate degree in baking and pastry arts or closely related field
  • minimum five years full-time professional baking and pastry experience
  • knowledge of classical and contemporary baking techniques
  • demonstrated proficiency in breads, cakes, desserts, laminated doughs, chocolate and sugar work
  • teaching experience at postsecondary level or industry training
  • experience with multiple teaching modalities
  • current ServSafe or equivalent certification or ability to obtain within six months
  • knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint
  • ability to learn college job-related software
  • ability to lift 50 pounds
  • ability to stand for extended periods
  • ability to perform hands-on culinary demonstrations
  • availability to teach at all campuses and modalities

Job Qualifications

  • associate degree in Baking and Pastry Arts or related field

  • proficiency in various baking applications
  • teaching experience at community college or equivalent industry training delivery
  • experience with multiple teaching formats including in-person, hybrid, and online
  • current ServSafe or equivalent food safety certification or ability to obtain within six months

Job Duties

  • Lead baking and pastry arts classes in face-to-face and online formats
  • maintain a safe and controlled kitchen and classroom environment
  • instruct students in classical and contemporary baking techniques
  • demonstrate proficiency in breads, cakes, desserts, laminated doughs, and chocolate and sugar work
  • utilize multiple teaching modalities including hybrid and accelerated formats
  • manage student learning to ensure successful culinary service operations
  • participate in curriculum development and program effectiveness evaluation
