Job Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Business or Hotel Restaurant Management or culinary institution
  • Four or more years experience in high volume multi unit food service operations
  • Two or more years supervisory experience
  • Strong communication skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Mathematical skills
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Ability to read write and understand English
  • Ability to calculate figures and analyze data
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize work
  • Ability to use computer and office equipment
  • Food Handler's certificate preferred
  • Ability to work flexible schedule including nights weekends holidays
  • On site work availability
  • Compliance with company policies and laws

Job Qualifications

  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university in Business or Hotel Restaurant Management or recognized culinary institution
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
  • Four or more years’ experience in high volume multi unit food service operations
  • Two or more years supervisory experience
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Computer literacy
  • Mathematical and financial skills
  • Proven leadership abilities
  • Food Handler's certificate from the County of San Diego preferred
  • Ability to read write and understand English
  • Proficient in preparing reports business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to present information and respond to questions effectively
  • Ability to calculate figures percentages portions and volume
  • Analytical quantitative organizational and management skills
  • Proficient in using office machines and computer systems
  • Ability to multi task prioritize and pay attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Manages and develops designated units kitchen operations staff including hiring terminating and disciplining employees
  • Oversees daily operations in the kitchen production area
  • Responsible for Dining Room operations in manager's absence
  • Assists in preparing financial projections and forecasts cost benefits for new kitchen projects
  • Manages daily unit operations ensuring proper procedures and guidelines for quality products and services
  • Develops and implements new menu items that meet customer needs and profitability goals
  • Works closely with Dining Nutritionist on recipes to determine nutritional values and allergens
  • Directs the daily preparation of standard and gourmet food items
  • Resolves customer issues and complaints to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Monitors compliance for inspections handling and storage of food supplies linens and equipment
  • Responsible for recruitment training development and evaluation of staff
  • Establishes and maintains quality production and cost control standards
  • Develops and maintains working relationships with customers coworkers vendors and university personnel
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and federal state and local laws and regulations
  • Performs other duties as assigned
