Job Requirements

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • minimum of three years of cooking experience in a professional kitchen environment
  • strong communication skills in English
  • ability to follow detailed instructions and recipes
  • basic math skills including measurements and conversions
  • knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen equipment
  • ability to maintain personal hygiene and comply with dress code
  • willingness to attend training sessions and complete certification
  • ability to work as part of a team
  • physical ability to stand for long periods and perform kitchen duties

Job Qualifications

  • ability to understand and follow instructions in English
  • communicates effectively
  • performs simple arithmetic
  • ability to understand measurements and conversions
  • a minimum of three years of experience as a cook in a hotel, restaurant, club, or similar institution or culinary advanced education
  • ability to plan and organize work
  • ability to interpret instructions, recipes, specifications, and standards
  • knowledge of kitchen equipment operations and maintenance
  • some knowledge of nutrition and diet
  • servsafe certified or ability to become certified within six months of hire date

Job Duties

  • maintains assigned workstation in a safe and sanitary condition
  • maintains acceptable standards of personal hygiene and complies with department dress code including federal and state regulations
  • attends and completes in-service training and education sessions as assigned
  • performs specific work duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
  • follows marquette policies and procedures
