Job Requirements

- Must be able to communicate effectively in English
- Must be physically capable of performing housekeeping duties including lifting, bending, standing, and walking
- Ability to follow federal, state, and local safety and infection control guidelines
- Able to work tactfully with diverse populations including elderly and disabled residents

- Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment
- Must be able to use housekeeping equipment and supplies safely and correctly
Job Qualifications
- Ability to make independent decisions
- Ability to follow instructions and accept constructive criticism
- Tact and patience when dealing with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public
- Ability to work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and potentially hostile people
- Effective verbal and written English communication skills
- Prior housekeeping or cleaning experience is a plus but not required
- Physical ability to perform cleaning functions including lifting up to 50 lbs
- Ability to coordinate with healthcare staff for resident safety and comfort
Job Duties
- Perform daily housekeeping functions and tasks as assigned and follow established safety precautions and infection control procedures
- Ensure that work/cleaning schedules are followed as closely as practical
- Coordinate daily housekeeping services with nursing services when performing routine cleaning assignments in resident living and/or recreational areas
- Ensure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe, comfortable, and attractive manner
- Dispose of personal protective equipment in accordance with established sanitation procedures
- Ensure that an adequate supply of housekeeping supplies to perform daily tasks is maintained in utility/janitorial closets
- Assist others in lifting heavy equipment, supplies, etc., as directed or requested
- Clean/polish furnishings, fixtures, ledges, room heating/cooling units, etc., in resident rooms, recreational areas, etc., daily
- Clean, wash, sanitize, and/or polish bathroom fixtures including removal of water marks
- Clean windows/mirrors in resident rooms, recreational areas, bathrooms, and entrance/exit ways
- Clean floors including sweeping, dusting, damp/wet mopping, disinfecting, etc., with proper safety signage
- Clean carpets including vacuuming
- Clean walls and ceilings through washing, wiping, dusting, spot cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing
- Remove dirt, dust, grease, film, etc., from surfaces using proper cleaning/disinfecting solutions
- Clean hallways, stairways, elevators, and vacant rooms
- Ensure work/assignment areas are clean and that equipment, tools, supplies, etc., are properly stored at all times including breaks and end of the day
