Job Requirements

  • Ability to read, write and speak English
  • High school graduate or equivalent education preferred
  • Minimum of two years cooking experience
  • At least one year of food service experience in healthcare dietary setting preferred
  • Ability to follow recipe directions and diet orders
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 to 75 pounds
  • Patient and tolerant attitude
  • Compliance with health and sanitation regulations
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation and safety practices

Job Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years cooking experience
  • Experience in batch cooking, family-style restaurants, or short order cooking
  • At least one year of food service experience in a healthcare dietary setting is desired
  • General knowledge of quantity food preparation and portioned serving
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow recipe directions, diet orders, and work assignments
  • Willingness to work flexible hours including during emergency situations
  • Patience and tolerance toward staff, residents, and family members
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Education in quantity cooking and therapeutic diets is a plus
  • Customer service orientation
  • Basic food preparation knowledge
  • Knowledge of sanitation and safety practices
  • Strong thoroughness and time management skills

Job Duties

  • Follow standardized recipes, portioning, menu extensions, and presentation standards
  • Complete and utilize daily production worksheets and waste log sheets
  • Taste completed meals to ensure quality
  • Monitor the temperature of hot and cold foods through preparation and service
  • Check and inspect food products and supplies as delivered in the absence of the Director of Culinary
  • Supervise and assist in the storage of supplies and food products
  • Notify the Director of Culinary of food, supplies, or equipment needs and report equipment breakdowns and unsafe conditions
  • Comply with federal, state, and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures
  • Perform other department duties assigned by the Director of Culinary
