Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- prior experience in food production or commercial kitchen environment
- knowledge of food safety regulations including ServSafe
- ability to read and follow recipes and instructions
- basic math skills
- physical ability to perform kitchen tasks including lifting up to 30 pounds
- ability to stand for extended periods
- willingness to work some weekends and holidays
- ability to work with diverse staff and volunteers

Job Duties
- Assist in the food production and maintenance of the commercial kitchen
- ensure compliance with applicable regulations, ServSafe program, and local health department regulations
- assist with receiving, checking temperatures, and putting away deliveries following FIFO guidelines
- read and follow recipes including multi-step written and oral instructions
- use math skills to comprehend and manipulate weights and measures
- operate, maintain, and clean steam, electric and gas cooking equipment
- monitor equipment and facilitate maintenance activities
- post relevant information needed for staff and volunteers
- interact with clients and community sites for coordination and quality assurance
- understand and comply with all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, directives, assignments, and training programs
- work some weekends and holidays
- multi-task effectively
- work with a diverse population of staff, interns, and volunteers
- demonstrate excellent organizational skills in a fast-paced environment
- proficient knife skills
- operate all food service equipment
- prepare food for large groups
