Job Requirements
- Must possess education to read, comprehend, and follow recipes and procedures
- high school graduate or equivalent
- culinary training preferred
- appropriate health certification as required by local, state, and federal health departments
- must be available weekends
- must be able to lift and carry a minimum of 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
- physical capability to perform stirring, sifting, cutting, slicing, reaching, bending, standing for long periods, and moving between kitchen and dining room carrying items
- experience with menu planning for elderly preferred
Job Qualifications
- Knowledge of menu planning for geriatric residents
- excellent cooking and baking skills
- knowledge of restricted diets such as diabetic, low fat, salt free, and liquid diets
- interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with residents and staff
- compassion and genuine care for the elderly
- knowledge of MSDS sheets location and guidelines
- ability to work independently and prioritize workload
- ability to expand recipes
- demonstrates a servant heart and attitude
Job Duties
- Cooks meals according to established recipes and menus
- assists Culinary Services Director in creating menus that meet residents' nutritional needs and accommodates food preferences
- presents meals that are pleasing to the eye and palate
- sets up kitchen and prepares according to daily and next day menus
- cleans dishes, floors, walls, and kitchen equipment maintaining sanitary guidelines
- maintains an organized, clean, and safe storeroom, coolers, and kitchen
- assists in planning and cooking special meals
- maintains proper temperatures of kitchen equipment and storage
- maintains confidentiality of residents' personal information
- maintains professional appearance and positive customer service environment
- ensures adequate coverage for meal service and assists with dining room maintenance
- performs other duties as assigned
