Job Requirements

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Legally employable in the United States
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to pass written exam, physical with drug screen, physical skills and agility test, fingerprint, criminal history and driving record check
  • Valid State of Michigan Driver's License
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds
  • Ability to perform manual labor indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to stoop, bend and work in various environmental conditions

Job Qualifications

  • High school graduate or G.E.D.
  • Experience in event coordination or related field preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and computer software
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups
  • Experience working with community organizations and vendors
  • Ability to manage budgets and financial reports
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including weekends and holidays

Job Duties

  • Plan, supervise and coordinate new and existing events, programs and activities from start to finish
  • Perform tasks as necessary in relation to events, programs and activities
  • Coordinate and assist with event setup, breakdown and clean-up
  • Coordinate and collaborate with departments as necessary for day of event logistics and problem solving
  • Create and manage budgets for events and programs
  • Obtain supplies and equipment as needed for events, programs and activities
  • Prepare information and reports for planning and budget purposes
  • Maintain accurate program, activity and equipment records
  • Stay abreast of community needs and current trends in recreation to ensure quality service
  • Work with community organizations, groups and citizens to promote programs and events
  • Obtain sponsorships for events, programs, and activities
  • Interact positively with participants, families and staff to ensure high customer service
  • Manage vendor contracts and relationships
  • Inspect and prepare facilities, outdoor areas and equipment
  • Recruit, coordinate and schedule staff and volunteers
  • Execute policies and procedures professionally and accurately
  • Provide reports verbally and in writing for events, programs and activities
  • Answer telephone and assist visitors with information
  • Verify buildings and areas are secure at the end of events
  • Complete all assigned tasks
  • Perform all related work as required
