Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Serve Safe certification
  • Previous cooking experience in a healthcare or residential setting preferred
  • Ability to follow dietary guidelines and food safety procedures
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
  • Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to handle food allergies and special dietary needs with care

Job Qualifications

  • Serve Safe certification
  • Proven experience as a cook in a residential or healthcare setting is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety standards
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with residents and staff
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed

Job Duties

  • Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established menus, dietary guidelines, and residents' preferences
  • Ensure food is cooked and served at safe temperatures and in compliance with Serve Safe standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
  • Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and team to plan menus that meet nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions
  • Monitor inventory levels, assist with food ordering, and manage waste to minimize costs
  • Train and guide kitchen staff as needed to maintain high-quality standards
  • Engage with residents and staff to foster a welcoming and respectful atmosphere in the dining area
  • Address special dietary needs or allergies with attention to detail and care
