Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Serve Safe certification
- Previous cooking experience in a healthcare or residential setting preferred
- Ability to follow dietary guidelines and food safety procedures
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Excellent communication abilities
- Capacity to stand for extended periods and perform physically demanding tasks
- Flexibility to work evening shifts, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to handle food allergies and special dietary needs with care
Job Qualifications
- Serve Safe certification
- Proven experience as a cook in a residential or healthcare setting is preferred
- Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, nutrition, and food safety standards
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work collaboratively with residents and staff
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as needed
Job Duties
- Prepare and cook a variety of meals following established menus, dietary guidelines, and residents' preferences
- Ensure food is cooked and served at safe temperatures and in compliance with Serve Safe standards
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen environment, adhering to all health and safety regulations
- Collaborate with the Dietary Manager and team to plan menus that meet nutritional requirements and dietary restrictions
- Monitor inventory levels, assist with food ordering, and manage waste to minimize costs
- Train and guide kitchen staff as needed to maintain high-quality standards
- Engage with residents and staff to foster a welcoming and respectful atmosphere in the dining area
- Address special dietary needs or allergies with attention to detail and care
