Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age over 18 years
  • Background clearance as required by government regulations
  • Current food handlers permit
  • Minimum of two years’ cooking experience
  • Negative TB test results
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to speak, write, and read English
  • Ability to operate computer, necessary software programs, scanners, copiers, and fax machines
  • Ability to be professional at all times with other team members, residents, family members, and visitors
  • Must be able to lift and push 50lbs
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout day and community
  • Must be able to stand for long periods

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years’ cooking experience
  • Current food handler’s permit
  • Excellent communication skills including ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Ability to operate computers and necessary software such as word processing, email, and spreadsheets
  • Professional demeanor with team members, residents, families, and visitors

Job Duties

  • Arrive to work on time and prepared for your shift
  • Prepare all food items in accordance with planned menus and recipes ensuring meals are appetizing, nutritional, and meet special dietary requests
  • Ensure all food is served at the correct temperature and charted as such
  • Ensure proper plate presentation
  • Consult with the Director of Dining Services on any menu changes or substitutions
  • Ensure food storage areas are clean and organized at all times
  • Prepare food in accordance with governmental, sanitary, and dietitian regulations and established policies
  • Report any infractions to the Director of Dining Services immediately
  • Take care of food orders when they arrive
  • Dispose of food and waste according to policies
  • Ensure leftovers are properly stored, labeled, and dated
  • Record temperatures of refrigerators, freezers, and dishwashers
  • Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas
  • Supervise servers and dishwashers
  • Prepare upcoming menu items ensuring they are stocked and pulled as directed by recipes
  • Manage safe storage and efficient use of kitchen inventory
  • Promote a positive and friendly teamwork attitude
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management
