Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous experience in hospital food preparation preferred
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English verbally and in writing
  • Ability to follow recipes
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work
  • Ability to maintain collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service
  • Knowledge and ability to operate basic kitchen equipment
  • Knowledge of food safety guidelines
  • PC competency with Microsoft Office
  • Servesafe Certificate preferred

Job Duties

  • Assists in cooking, set-up, serving and breakdown of catered events
  • Cooks meat, fish and fowl using baking, roasting, broiling and steaming methods
  • Determines types and quantities of foods to prepare by reviewing menus
  • Ensures meals are ready at specified times
  • Helps with cleaning and date/label duties
  • Makes sauces, soups, stews, casseroles and desserts following dietary guidelines
  • Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes
  • Records patient and guest meal counts
  • Maintains temperature logs for refrigerators, freezers and food preparation areas
  • Stocks supplies and assists with ordering
  • Supervises kitchen workers in food preparation tasks
  • Tests foods to ensure proper doneness
  • Adjusts heat controls as needed
  • Performs other duties as assigned
